ABCs of Faith-Renew Your Mind

" Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect." -Romans 12:2

Have you heard of business retreats a company will provide for their employees? Maybe your family has a place to retreat to once or twice a year. The reason a boss treats their company to a retreat is so that everyone can get a break from the everyday grind. A time they can relax and renew their bodies and minds so that they can go back to work refreshed and strengthened to continue their job. Retreats are basically a place to go away from everyday life to get a break. They are times to find rest and strength. Families go on retreats to bring the family closer together since life always can pull them in many directions. Some people also feel they need a retreat to renew their relationship with God again.

Life never stops flowing. We eventually all grow up and have to become adults. With that comes work and possibly family. Soon we can find ourselves in an unending circle. Get up, go to work, pay bills, take care of the home and family, go to bed and then get up and do it all over again day after day. This routine can get mundane after time and we can begin to feel bogged down and heavy burdened. We could easily lose sight of God as we fall into worldly patterns.

God tells us that we need to change our patterns, especially when we feel we are being pulled into everyday life and spending less time with Him. We need to change our thinking, find our own retreat to take time to renew our minds and spirit. When we take that break we will begin to clearly see what God wants us to do and we will find peace in this fast paced world of daily routine. Where's your retreat? It doesn't have to be far from your home, it could be a park, a peaceful lake, taking a walk around your area. All you need is a place that can take you away from your routine, even just for an hour or two where you can silence out the world and hear God's voice more clearly. Today, take time to go to your retreat and allow God to give you a renewed faith, spirit, and clear mind.
