“Jesus has the power of God, by which he has given us everything we need to live and to serve God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus called us by his glory and goodness.” -2 Peter 1:3
When my kids were little, I loved helping them find their eyes, nose, mouth, hands and so forth. Their eagerness to show me was always fun to watch. As babies I watched with joy as they discovered their hands and what their hands could do. Their eyes always wide with wonderment. As they grew to toddlers, we taught them a song, ‘O be careful little eyes what you see, O be careful little hands what you do, O be careful little feet where you go, and so on. Why, because Jesus is watching in love’. We teach our children about how God made us, and we are a special part of His family with gifts to us to be a better Christian and witness. God gave us:
Eyes, not to judge others but to look beyond situations. We all face different things in life and all have our own walk with God. We need to use our eyes to see those in need or hurting not to hurt others.
Mouth, not to criticize but to speak for the truth. God has done miracles for you and has blessed you. Always speak truth about God to everyone and stand up for Him. He has your back, you need to have his.
Hands, not to punish but to give a helping hand. Let God do the punishing. Our job is to help others in need, help the elderly, help in church. Our hands can be used to heal not hurt.
Ears, not to be insensitive but to listen and aid those is pain. Listening is hard, but we can learn so much more when we’re quiet, gain wisdom and learn how to really help someone.
Everything God gave us has a purpose. Use them for the greater glory of the Lord.
