God- The Alpha and Omega

“The Lord God says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega. I am the One who is and was and is coming. I am the Almighty.” -Revelation 1:8

When my youngest was probably around six or seven she was putting together the idea of mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and the idea of her great grandparents and how we all fit together. She began to put it together that we all came from someone before us and there usually were moms and dads to make the families. She come to me one day and asked where God began. If everyone had parents, then who was God’s parents?

I quickly answered the answer I knew, “God is just God, He was and is and always will be. He is the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 22:13)

She accepted my answer and went on to other things, but it got me thinking. I grew up in the Christian faith, as far as I could remember I just accepted God as God, our Creator and Jesus our Savior.

To stop and think about it puts God in such an awe-inspiring new light. God has always been, before our world was created He has already existed, He lived and lives among a host of angels and there are countless worlds He has dominion over. Yet God chose this planet to create a beautiful earth and He chose this planet to create man like Himself. He was here at our beginning and He created us to be able to have children and grow our world for generations. God is our beginning and He has never left our world, He is daily watching over this world and He will always be watching. We, as humans, will die and things will always come and go but God never changes, He will always be here no matter how many years pass. And God is our end, when He is ready He will come again and take all of us who choose Him to live forever with Him. At that time, He will destroy this earth as His end. God is our Alpha and Omega, powerful yet full of never-ending love only wanting the best for us. God just is and knowing He cares for me and my family I have no need to question anymore.
