Let’s Be F.A.T.

Lamentations 3:22-23 “The Lord’s love never ends; his mercies never stop. They are new every morning; Lord, your loyalty is great.”

Let's face it no one wants to be fat. Although there are many tempting things in this world that draw us in like; pies, cakes, cookies and so much more, we do our best to avoid them or decide after indulging we need to diet to lose the fat that we have gained from indulging too much. On top of that we might begin reading labels or measure portions to cut out the fats we don't want. We exercise and try new ways to stay healthy and fit.

Do you know there's an easier way to stay healthy and fit without all the diets and exercise? Well, at least spiritually speaking. God wants us all to be F.A.T. and here's how to gain that spiritual weight.

F- God is calling you to be a Faithful follower.

A- be Available for His use.

T- be Teachable.

F- God is calling you to be a faithful follower.

Hebrews 3:6 “But Christ is faithful as a Son over God’s house. And we are God’s house if we confidently maintain our hope.”

Revelation 2:10 “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you; the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer for ten days. But be faithful, even if you have to die, and I will give you the crown of life.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful and will give you strength and will protect you from the Evil One.”

Wouldn't it be so much easier to just hideaway when life's problems are pressing in? What if God is transforming you through those trials? We are God's family, and He promises to help us through all we face and, in the end, we will receive the Crown of life in heaven with Jesus. It's time to let our actions speak for our faith not just our words. Trust and have faith when Jesus asks you to take up your cross and follow Him, that He will see you through. Let your spiritual walk begin by following Jesus, believing He will work all out for you according to His will for your life.

A- Are you available for God's use?

Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven.”

1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good servants of God’s various gifts of grace.”

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession. You were chosen to tell about the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”

It isn’t always easy to give up time, money, family and friends to help further God's message to others. We can always squeeze in moments here and there to help our church, family, and friends. But to be fully available for Gods use we need to give God what's deep in our hearts too. Are there any hurts, disappointments, or failings? Do you still have a wall of unforgiveness hiding? To be fully available we need to let go of the past and let God heal us. Then we can be ready to fully embrace His plan for our life. When we say, “Here I am Lord,” we need to replace old habits with new ones. When we add “Send me”, we need to fully be available for God's use. Embrace your talents, step out of your comfort zone, and share all God shows you to share. And if you feel called to travel to new places to be available for Gods use, get ready and hold on. He will send you where you're needed the most, even if it's where you’re at now.

T- If you're teachable you're reachable.

2 Timothy 2:15 “Make every effort to give yourself to God as the kind of person he will approve. Be a worker who is not ashamed and who uses the true teaching in the right way.”

Mark 4:25 “Those who have understanding will be given more. But those who do not have understanding, even what they have will be taken away from them.”

Proverbs 15:14 “People with understanding want more knowledge, but fools just want more foolishness.”

If you feel you have learned all you need to know about Jesus, then you can easily lose the joy and fulfillment the Bible has to offer. As humans, the older we get the more we learn. New things are always around the corner and sometimes what you learned when you were younger hits you differently when you're older and you learn it in a different way. Learning from Jesus is the same thing, even if you have learned something or read the entire Bible. Each time you read it as you get older something new will appear or you'll see it in a different way. God can only reach us if we're always willing to let Him teach us as we grow. Be teachable from God and from those around you. God is showing them new things too in ways that can benefit you. We will never stop learning as long as we allow ourselves to be teachable.

Physically, when you don't want to be fat you may find yourself skimping on meals or skipping meals. You may find yourself eating less but forgetting the nourishment you need. Spiritually, don't skimp on your daily nourishment from God. Feed your spirit on the Bible every day. Diving into God's word somehow dissolves your problems and worries. Let's throw out the diets and get FAT with God today.
