P.A.R.T.Y!

Psalm 68:3 "But those who do right should be glad and should rejoice before God; they should be happy and glad."

Who doesn’t enjoy a party? Parties are usually a celebration of something good that’s happened in our life or a loved one’s life. Parties can be a time to celebrate good things happening around us. The best thing about a party is that you’re not alone. You celebrate with close friends and family. You can enjoy fun and laughter. You can talk and share things. As a whole, people love to celebrate. We celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, weddings, baptisms, and any event we think is special.

Did you know they had parties in the Bible too? Oh, probably not like we have today but there were times of celebration back then too. Weddings were celebrated for one. But almost all celebrations revolved around one central point, God bringing them through a battle or low times. Feasts were had, music played, and the people rejoiced in the great God they served and followed who always saw them through.

Out of all our celebrations God is truly the one we should always be celebrating. We should celebrate all the good He has blessed us, all the times He has seen us through our trials, and above all we should celebrate the love He gave us by sending Jesus to the cross to save our lives. The Lord is worth having a party for. So, let’s have a P.A.R.T.Y!

P-Praise God for His love: Jeremiah 31:3 “And from far away the Lord appeared to his people and said, “I love you people with a love that will last forever. That is why I have continued showing you kindness.”

God’s love for each of us is never-ending. Like a parent we will do things to disappoint Him but He will still love us and be here for us. 1 John 4:16 tells us that God’s love abides in each of us. That’s worth celebrating.

A-Acknowledge His grace: 1 Peter 5:10 “And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever.”

We are human, we suffer, we face weakness against this world and its trials and temptations. But God is a God of grace which will help us in our weaknesses and forgive us when we stumble. We are all called by God and the grace He shows will help us through to the day of salvation.

R-Remember His works: John 14:26 “But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.” 1 Corinthians 11:1-2 “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. I praise you because you remember me in everything, and you follow closely the teachings just as I gave them to you.”

Many times, in scripture we are told to remember what God has done for us. He saw all of His followers through things in scripture, and He still sees us through today. When we remember the great works the Lord has done for us, we can find reasons to joyful and celebrate.

T- Tell others about Him: Psalm 96:3 “Tell the nations of his glory; tell all peoples the miracles he does,”

When good things happen, we don’t just sit on it and say nothing. We want to share; we want to tell our friends and family. Our walk with Jesus should be just as exciting if not more. We should want to share with our friends and loved ones the good that God has done in our lives. We also should be excited to share with others who God is and what He has promised. In fact, God instructs us to go and share the Good News. So, what are you waiting for, let’s have a party and share Jesus with the world.

Y-Yield to His Spirit: Revelation 3:20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me.”

Jesus is here for us, Jesus wants to be part of our lives, Jesus has given us a helper- the Holy Spirit, to help guide us and keep us connected to Him. He is knocking and all we have to do is let Him in. Stop trying to do everything on your own, listen to God’s voice leading, and turn away from the pleasures of this world. When we let go of having to have all the control, God can and will do great things in and for your life. The day of salvation and eternity in heaven will be so much sweeter than this world can ever offer. All you have to do is let Jesus in.

Enjoy the quality time in all your various celebrations but make every day a P.A.R.T.Y. with Jesus.
