The Right Connection

James 4:8a, “Come near to God, and God will come near to you. You sinners, clean sin out of your lives.”

When God wanted to create fish, He spoke to the sea. When God wanted to create trees, He spoke to the earth. But, when God wanted to create man, He turned to Himself. Then, God said, “Let us make man in Our image and in Our likeness.”

If you take a fish out of the water, it will die. When you remove a tree from soil, it will also die. Likewise, when man is disconnected from God, he dies.

God is our natural environment. We were created to live in His presence. We have to be connected to Him because it is only in Him that life exists. Let us stay connected to God.

We recall that water without fish is still water, but fish without water is nothing. The soil without a tree is still soil, but a tree without soil is nothing. GOD Without man is still GOD, but man without God is nothing.

When God created us, He designed us to have that connection with Him- Isaiah 44:2, “This is what the Lord says, who made you who formed you in your mother’s body, who will help you: “People of Jacob, my servants, don’t be afraid. Israel, I chose you.” Everything God created was designed to fulfill a primary purpose, including us. We were designed to multiply and spread the good news of salvation and of Jesus. We may do a lot of things like careers, raising families and so forth, but our primary purpose remains the same, connect with God spiritually so His light can shine through us to help others.

Having the right connection goes both ways.

On God’s end:

- God the Father begins by initiating the connection- Jeremiah 31:3, Ephesians 1:4

- Jesus the Son then makes the connection- John 14:6, 1 Timothy 2:5

- Holy Spirit then keeps us connected- 2 Corinthians 13:14

Yet to stay connected we still have to do our part.

- Study God's word, allow Jesus to connect with you through his words, that can help us navigate through this life- John 15:7

- We connect when we stay in obedience to God's word and his will- Isaiah 59:2, 1 John 5:3

- Prayer and praise keeps our focus on God- Colossians 3:16-17

- When you feel disconnected, reconnect in faith- Romans 8:38-39

- When you stay in relationship with family and fellow believers your connection grows- Hebrews 10:24-25

When we are connected with God we are able to hear and receive direction- Revelation 3:20 and we are able to follow His instructions- Proverbs 3:5-6.

Because God is love and we are His creation, we can show our love to Him by connecting with Him and we will find life in Him, and He will help us through our life here on earth and give us a home with Him forever.

1 John 4:17, Ephesians 3:17, “I pray that Christ will live in your hearts by faith and that your life will be strong in love and be built on love.” When we are connected to God our love for Him grows and is made perfect. Trusting God helps our roots grow down into God's love. God wants a relationship with us, He longs for that connection so He can fellowship with us and help us through this world and what we will face.

Connect with God today and have full access to His strength. Call on Him, He will answer. There will be no call waiting, you'll never be put on hold, you never receive the generic options. You will hear the voice of God ready to help you with His tailor-made help to fit your needs. This is Christ’s promise and our hope each day. “If God is for us, who can be against us.”

God gives us many ways to connect with Him in a personal relationship. Whether prayer, Bible study, a community of believers, or a combination of all three—we have the opportunity to draw near to Him. When we do, he draws near to us (James 4:8a). The Bible does tell us who we are and what we should do, but it does so through the lens of who God is. The knowledge of God and the knowledge of self always go hand in hand. So let us connect with God through His Word. Let's continue our study with Hebrews 2:1-9.
