Waiting for God Peacefully

“And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:7

When my kids were babies I loved to watch them sleep. They looked so peaceful and calm. Even now I peek in on them occasionally just to see them sleep. What about if you have a dog or cat, have you ever watched them sleep? They too have an atmosphere of peace around them. I believe that peaceful sleep comes from an assurance and security that they are safe when we’re around. They can sleep peacefully because they know we are here taking care of them.

When we are waiting on God to act in our lives or help us through something, even as we wait for His second coming, we can be at peace. When we’ve invited God into our lives and hearts and truly look to Him for all our needs, we can have the same peace and assurance babies and our pets do. Philippians tells us God is with us. We can be at peace when He enters our lives. This is because, like children, we have been promised, by God, that He is watching over us taking care of us like we go our own children and pets.

Even when trials come our way we should be able to handle them with some peace because we know, no matter what, God’s got this, and He has us in His hands. We will get through it. Storms and troubles are but stepping stones in life when we choose to wait peacefully in God.
