"Now may God himself, the God of peace, make you pure, belonging only to him. May your whole self—spirit, soul, and body—be kept safe and without fault when our Lord Jesus Christ comes. You can trust the One who calls you to do that for you. "
-1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
When you look at the definition of whole you will find: a thing that is complete in itself, in an unbroken or undamaged state, in one piece.
When I think of that definition and myself it makes me a little sad. I'm human so I'm definitely not without sin. I have a past so part of me is broken and in this body the older I get the more I'm not in one piece. So, looking at it from a person's perspective, I am not complete, there's a hole keeping me from being whole.
I like to look for silver linings though in those dreary clouds and have found one of the best silver linings. 1 Thessalonians God has said it best. Yes we are human, we are broken, we are falling apart and we are not complete. But, when we allow God into our lives we will begin to find that hole fill up. Our God of peace has promised to make us whole, spirit, soul and body and He will keep us safe until He returns for us and because we know we can trust His word, we know He will do it.
So, I might have brokenness, I might be falling apart and I'm not perfect but with God in my life I am whole and that hole has been filled.
