Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
There's no question we serve an awesome God. A God who takes care of us, has blessed our lives, and has literally given us the world. Our God is a God of wisdom, power, and miracles. He parted the Red Sea, gave Jonah a ride in the belly of the whale, shut the mouths of lions, and stood in a fire protecting His people. Despite all we've read of God and His Majesty the best way we get to experience God is through nature in the world around us. Romans tells us, we have no excuse not to know who God is by just stepping outside.
The world God created for us is amazing and it shows us His glory. Our earth is filled with mystery, beauty, and colors. It's complex yet simple and it was created for our enjoyment.
To begin with a world of changing seasons. My favorite season is spring. I love how the air just seems to breathe newness. All the old of the year before has been washed away and a new life begun. I love opening the windows and letting in the crispness and the smells, hearing the birds began their melodious songs each morning promising wonderful days ahead, and knowing God has created this wonder for us to experience. Trees begin to change again, transforming the world into a blanket of green, and the sweet smells of lilacs, orchids, and apple blossoms fill the air with sweet perfume. Winter can be long but bringing in the spring can be so jubilating. Feeling the sun warm our skin and the earth, is refreshing.
My second favorite time of the year is fall. The hot summer days are cooling off, bringing a crispness to the air. The leaves begin changing into an array of colors. It's a great time of year for fires, cooler walks, and harvests.
Of course we can't forget summers. Trees are in full bloom of green, each unique to their design. In the evenings I love sitting outside listening to the crickets and night sounds. We have a mourning dove who lives by us so in those early mornings I can still hear its cooing ever so softly. We live outside a city, so we have lots of bunnies, squirrels, and birds to enjoy all around us. One of my favorites are the many, many stars at night. On those clear nights I love looking up in the sky and seeing the stars. In summer the water is perfect for swimming and of course picnics with friends, and nights of stargazing.
Winter brings me a mix of feelings. The winter season brings in some wonderful holidays with family which I look forward to. For some they love winter because of the crisp snow that falls to the ground. Me, not so much, but I like to enjoy watching the animals in winter. Watching the red cardinal standing out against the white snow, the squirrels scurrying about looking for food. Curling up in front of warm fires to keep the chill out. The end of winter is not my favorite time of the year though. God has created some wonderful things to happen during these months.
Just step out in nature during any season and you will experience something awesome in God's creation. His fingerprints can be seen throughout His entire created universe. All of creation whispers God’s story—the mountains, the oceans, the blue morning glories, the raindrops, the sunshine, the grapes on the grapevine. With nature, God gives us a glimpse of the divine.
God also created a sky that talks to us daily. “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.”
“It whisper snow in soft winds. It shouts hails and tornadoes. It seems sprinkling, pouring, and blowing tunes. Proclaims sunlight and echoes moonlight. It cries out in bright blues, crimson reds and oranges, white billows, and multi-colored rainbows.”- biblelovenotes.com
God's creation testifies that we serve an awesome, almighty God.
The roar of a lion can be heard five miles away.
A single hurricane can produce as much energy as 10,000 nuclear bombs.
Sharks grow a new set of teeth every two weeks.
Meows are not an innate cat language. They developed it to communicate with us! Cats make more than 100 different sounds while dogs make only around 10.
Mantis shrimp have an arm that can heat surrounding water to 8,500* Fahrenheit.
Knifefish can create electric fields around themselves for protection.
Every dog has its own unique nose print, which is different from all others like a human's fingerprint.
I could probably go on forever with fun facts, but like I said, just step out in nature and let it speak of how we serve an awesome God, who has created, down to the littlest detail, an earth for us to enjoy.
Before I close, I want to add. In all of God's creation His most prized creation was creating us in His image. We are created in God’s image. It’s who we are. We are the center of His creation; this is our identity. We are part of God, part of His plan, and we have been promised salvation with Him. The greatest gift, the greatest miracle that God has given us is our redemption. Jesus coming to this earth to die for our sins. Philippians 2:6-8.
We may never fully understand God's wonderful creation, but we have been given the chance to step out in nature and experience His creation. When you are overwhelmed, peace cannot be obtained, stress and anxiety has taken over. Step out in nature, step out into God's creation. Take a walk away from the city, find a stream to relax by. Let nature fill your soul with the peace and harmony that God gives. ‘The Lord is my shepherd I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength.’
I found this song that fits perfectly with God’s creation and finding rest in Him.
I hope you have found some extra time to join me in our study on Godly relationships. Not only can we learn more about God when we study the Bible but we can grow our character to be more Christlike and also learn to live in this world with those around us as Jesus did when He was on the earth. Today we will continue our study with lesson three.
