Broken Crayons Still Color

Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You."

There are three things in life that are certain. Aside from death and taxes, we can be certain that, in life there will be times things will go wrong. Unexpected obstacles come up; the best laid plans may unravel. People disappoint us, finances crumble, and unexpected bills or illnesses happen. Life isn't always going to be sunshine, rainbows, and roses. There will be times those curveballs come right at us, setting our life into chaos. The question is, what do you do in those moments?

You let go, give it to God, be still, and trust. Let's do what I like to do best, break this down.

L- Leave your worries to God- 1 Peter 5:7

Talk to God, no need for perfect words. Let Him have all your worries, messy parts and all. Make it intentional, be specific by naming the worries. ‘God, I give this to you’. Then picture yourself releasing them from your hands.

E- Entrust God with what you can't control- Psalm 37:5

Surrender the idea of trying to control everything and learn to lean on Jesus instead of carrying it. Refuse to pick it back up. ‘I already gave it to God’.

T- Trust His timing- Ecclesiastes 3:1

Believe God is working behind the scenes and sees what we can't. ‘Lord, I know you will take care of me and what I'm facing’.

G- God is still working- Philippians 1:6

Sometimes what we are going through feels like the end of the world and we may feel stuck with no way out. Remember, God is still with you working in you. He may be shaping your heart through the situation you're in. He may be preparing you for something better, helping you build patience, strength and trust. ‘Lord, even if I don't see it or feel it, I will believe you are working everything out for good in my life’.

O- On your behalf- Exodus 14:14

Know you are not fighting alone. God is already moving in places you may not know. Hearts, situations, timing. He is busy arranging things for your good. Delays, closed doors, even when you see confusion or an endless forest, God's plan is coming together. He's not late, He's precise- Habakkuk 2:3. ‘Lord, help me not have fear but peace knowing no matter the storms, you are making a way’.

G- Give your worries to Him- Philippians 4:6-7

I-Invite God into your situation- Jeremiah 33:3

V- Value His plan- Jeremiah 29:11

E- Expect Him to help- Psalm 37:5

I-Include Him in your decisions- Proverbs 3:6

T-Trust His timing- Isaiah 60:22

T-Thank Him in advance- 1 Thessalonians 5:18

O- Offer Him your burdens- Matthew 11:28

G- Grow your faith- Romans 10:17

O- Obey His Word- John 14:15

D- Depend on Him- Proverbs 3:5

The hardest part now is to be still. Yet, this can be the most powerful thing when in the middle of worry, trials, and storms- Psalm 46:10. You've let go; you've given it to God. Now take a few slow breaths, ‘Lord, I know you are here, I'm not alone’.

S- Slow your heart when life seems overwhelming- Isaiah 26:3

This isn't about escaping but anchoring in God's peace when you're in the middle of the storms. Takes slow, deep breaths.

     Inhale- ‘God, you are here’

Exhale- ‘I give this to you’

T- Teach me to trust you in silence- 2 Corinthians 5:7

This is hard because we are being asked to believe God is working even when we don't see or hear anything. Silence is not absence; it's a place for growth letting your roots grow deeper in Jesus.

I- I choose faith over fear today- 2 Timothy 1:7

Just because you choose faith doesn't mean problems will disappear, it just means you choose to have the final say. Fear: what if everything goes wrong. Faith: even when everything goes wrong, I know God's got this, He will carry me through.

L- Lead me when I don't know the way- Psalm 119:105

Life will give us broken crayons at times and when we try to fix them on our own, we sometimes make it worse. To be still in Jesus means you are choosing to release control to Him allowing Him to lead even if it's just one step at a time. Be still so you can see where God is leading, choose to walk through His open doors, and choose to have peace with the way He leads.

L- Let me rest, knowing you are God- Exodus 33:14

Let go of the weight you've been carrying, trusting God to hold you steady. Resting in Jesus doesn't mean you are stagnant. It means you still are moving forward but from a place of peace instead of fear and worry. Pause and breathe, release your burdens, stop striving, and sit in His presence.

Your final step, trust in God- Proverbs 3:5

T- Take God at His word

R- Release what you can't control

U- Understand His timing

S- Surrender your worries

T- Thank Him in advance

Life won't always go as planned. There will be setbacks, disappointments, struggles, and at times feel downright messy or incomplete. Life won't always be perfect but like broken crayons, it doesn't mean useless. Even when what feels broken, God can make it beautiful, bring purpose, and growth- Romans 8:28.

Broken crayons still color and God is working everything out in your life helping you gain strength, wisdom, a deeper faith, and compassion for others. Don't wait for everything to be perfect, use what you have, where you are, and let God work through all the things in your life.
