Dear Reader....

Joshua 1:9, " Remember that I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you everywhere you go.”

Have you ever had one of those days? Morning has come. Oh your eyes feel crusty, bones are rusty, and why do your teeth feel dusty? The morning has just begun and already the gray of the day is beginning. Can you just stay in bed?

As you go through your day everything goes wrong. Traffic is a bear and you know you're going to be late. If things can't get worse, you spill your coffee on yourself right before an important meeting. The computer is not cooperating and running slow, and all day those pesky phone calls plague your phone. Now your car is making funny noises and once home the faucet is dripping. You may open your mail and get those unexpected bills or maybe an e-mail reminding you of something that needs to be done for one of your children. Maybe before even entering your home you cut your turn too short and scrape the mailbox leaving a nasty mark on your car.

Falling onto the couch feeling defeated and ready for the day to be over you order pizza and decide to do no more. All day your way went wrong. As you fall asleep you think, ‘Just maybe a better day is on its way.’ And that day could happen tomorrow, right?

Can you relate? Have you had those days? You're not alone, we've all been there. Maybe not to that extreme but I know I've thought, tomorrow can't get any worse than today so better days do come.

One thing I have realized is that it is all a mindset. Sure, things can go wrong now and again, but the power of our thoughts also plays a big role in our day. If we wake already seeing a bad day ahead, that frame of mind can affect the entire day. We can either let the bad day mindset influence the actions we take along with the results, or lighten up and let go of the negative. That doesn't mean things won't go wrong, but our frame of mind can find the good if we try.

If things seem to be going wrong throughout your day or you just wish you could crawl back under the covers and start again tomorrow. God wants to remind you of a few things. This letter is for you.

-        You're going to be okay: God has heard your prayers and is opening a way for you even when you don't see it- Isaiah 43:19

-        You're not alone: God is fighting for you and has already sent angels to help you. He is even fighting the battles you don't see- Psalm 62:6

-        Prayer is your greatest weapon: Use it- Ephesians 6:18, James 5:13-18

-        Trust God's timing: It's always perfect and God has a beautiful plan for your life- Psalm 31:14-15

-        You're not forgotten: No matter what challenges you face, God is right there with you- Matthew 28:20, Isaiah 43:2

-        Very soon you'll smile and say, ‘God, this is more than I prayed for, thank you.’- Luke 6:38

So, if you're having one of those days decide not to let it pollute your perspective anymore. Don't let the gray of today hijack your joy. If you're ready to raise the white flag of surrender wait a moment before giving up. There is good news! We don't have to be held hostage in doom and gloom over our circumstances. God clearly has told us that when we accept Him as our Savior, we have the Spirit of God in us. We have full access to His peace, joy, strength, and patience- 1 John 4:4, “My dear children, you belong to God and have defeated them; because God’s Spirit, who is in you, is greater than the devil, who is in the world.”

It's not what happens around you, it's about what's happening in you. Don't simply settle for a bad day hoping for a better tomorrow. Claim the Lord's promises. Let Him fight the battles and look for the blessings He has given you.

If a bad day is in front of you choose to turn it into a better day. When you dwell in the cloud of negativity, confusion, despair, self-pity, and anger it all absorbs into your perspective. Satan will then capitalize on that and keep you in a negative state. That way you won't be able to see God doing the good in your life, even amongst the bad.

My dear readers we serve a God of turnarounds. No matter what our circumstances, situations, or the day we've been dealt. God can turn it around if we are willing to let Him. Be ready and receptive, for all things will work together for good. Praise God that He is not asleep but working behind the scenes in our lives on both the good days and the off days. Remember, happiness becomes easier when you stop complaining about your problems and start being grateful for all the problems you don't have. Have a great day!
