The Great Crescendo

John 4:10-15 “Jesus said, “If you only knew the free gift of God and who it is that is asking you for water, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” The woman said, “Sir, where will you get this living water? The well is very deep, and you have nothing to get water with. Are you greater than Jacob, our father, who gave us this well and drank from it himself along with his sons and flocks?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give will never be thirsty. The water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life.”

I enjoy music. Mostly sacred and Christian but I also enjoy full bands and orchestras. The musical harmony is wonderful to listen to, but what I also enjoy almost more is when the music reaches a point that the crescendo brings the entire piece together, emphasizing and resounding through our beings. For Christian music I love when the words and music bring the love of Jesus to our hearts.

I like to think God wrote a symphony for us and the greatest crescendo is still waiting for us. Since the beginning of creation God began His symphony with beautiful music of the birds, an orchestra filled with sounds of animals and a choir of babbling brooks.

Like all music there are the highs and lows, joyous and solemn, and triumphant. Jesus’ death on the cross filled our lives with victory. Although our hearts break when we think what He went through, the triumph is now when we claim Jesus. Satan does not have a hold on us, our hope is in Jesus and the promise of salvation.

Much like music, our lives will continue to move forward, our story will be played out with joyous times, sad times, times of hope and triumphant times.

As God’s symphony fills our hearts we look forward to the great crescendo, the music will increase, the sounds filling our entire soul. Starting with a small cloud and growing bigger as it gets closer. The heavenly music of angels and trumpets fill the sky and every human being living on the planet will see Jesus coming in the clouds. Loved ones who have died in Jesus will be reunited with families. Victory over Satan, a world no longer having to live with sin, heartache, sickness or temptation.

God sends Jesus to gather His children and take us to heaven to be reunited with our Creator. A beautiful ending to a beautiful beginning. Although mucked up by sin and bad choices, God allowed the symphony to play out because He knows the end will be victorious and we have the hope of the victory in Jesus.

As you listen to music and hear the moments the crescendo takes place remember the glorious crescendo of God’s symphony that awaits us when we choose Jesus. Hang onto the hope of salvation and the day Jesus will come again and take us to heaven.
