Who's Hands

Psalm 25, “O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.”

Have you had small children, are your children still young? Maybe you have small grandchildren or work with children. One thing I have noticed is the security a child feels with you, when they trust you. If you're out and about, anything might scare them, and they may grab your hand to feel safe and secure.

Hands can do many things. They can work, create, write, paint, sculpt, and so much more. With our hands we can express love and care: a touch, a caress, a protective fold.

Yet, our hands are not perfect. We can struggle to open the pickle jar, we can fight arthritis, we get cuts and bruises. There are even some who use their hands to hurt others.

Yet there is someone we can, with full assurance, take hold of their hand and feel secure. We can know that when we place our hands in His hands, we can accomplish great things.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal. A rod in Moses’ hands will part the mighty sea.

A slingshot in my hands is a kid’s toy. A slingshot In David's hands is a mighty weapon.

2 fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands are fish and sandwiches. 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse. Nails in Jesus’ hands will produce salvation for the entire world.

We may be able to accomplish many things with our hands but think how much more we can accomplish when we put our hands in God's hands.

God's hands are mighty and are ready to help us and be there for us. Like a child who trusts you when they are scared. Jesus’ hands are the ones we can reach for when we're exhausted, worried, or scared.

Life will throw us unexpected detours and unwelcome delays. We will see dark valleys and deep ravines. There will be times fear and discouragement will fall upon us. Yet, we have hope and a promise. Jesus’ nailed scarred hands will be there to embrace ours and He will be by our side through everything.

Put your trust in Jesus and let Him use your hands for good and to accomplish many things. Yet, when fear and worry set in look to God's hands and remember these things:

-        Do not worry, worry is the most unproductive of all human activities- Matthew 6:25

-        Do not be fearful, most of the things we face never come to pass- Deuteronomy 31:6

-        Do not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one has succeeded in accomplishing this- Matthew 6:34

-        Face each problem as it comes, you can only handle one at a time anyway-

Philippians 4:6-7

-        Do not take problems to bed with you, they make very poor bedfellows- Matthew 11:28

-        Do not borrow other people's problems, they care better for them than you can-

Romans 12:8

-        Do not try to relive yesterday for good or ill will, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening today and be happy now- Psalm 37:5

-        Be a good listener, for when you listen you can hear different ideas from your own. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do- Proverbs 12:15

-        Do not become bogged down by frustration, 99% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive actions- Ecclesiastes 3:6

-        Count your blessings, never overlooking the small ones. A lot of small blessings add up to one big one- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

-        Remember that it is all in God's hands! The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us- Galatians 5:16

Putting yourself in God's hands simply means you are giving God control of your life and trusting that He will guide and care for you. You are choosing to give your worries, hopes, and decisions completely in His power, and allow Him to direct your path. This is showing a deep act of faith where you rely on God's will, trusting that God has a plan for you. This is often expressed through prayer, where you actively communicate your trust in God and ask for guidance. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares for you".

“What do you hold—even loosely—that you need to place in the hands of your heavenly Father? A child, a hurt, or an opportunity that is slipping away. Place your fear in the hands of the One whose hand calmed the sea, and He will calm your heart. Leave your hurt in the hands of the One whose hand gave sight to the blind, and He will heal your wounded heart. Put your financial desires in the hands of the One who owns everything, and He will give you peace and security. Put your personal view in the hands of the One whose perspective is perfect, and He will give you clarity.”- Boyd Bailey, wisdomhunters.com

“My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken! “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word” Isaiah 66:2.

Whose hands are you holding today?

There are so many benefits we can learn about when we read and study the Bible and we have covered many of them over our Bible study times. One of the best things I have found is that the Bible is full of God’s promises. In there we can find answers to so much of life's journey and direction in which way to go. The more we study, the more we learn, the more we grow. Jesus is always standing by ready to listen and guide you when you take the time with Him. Today let's continue our Bible study on Jesus and His I am statements.
