You are Clothed

Colossians 3:12-14 "12 God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So you should always clothe yourselves with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Bear with each other, and forgive each other. If someone does wrong to you, forgive that person because the Lord forgave you. 14 Even more than all this, clothe yourself in love. Love is what holds you all together in perfect unity."

Having children is a joy and a blessing period. From the time they are born we want the best for them, but we also start to worry about them. If we could, we probably would put them in a bubble, so they wouldn’t get hurt. If it were made, we'd probably clothe them in protective armor so no bumps, scrapes, or bruises would ever touch them. As parents we would throw ourselves in front of them when danger comes just so they wouldn't experience pain. Have you ever had to hit your brakes really hard and instinctively blocked your child in the passenger seat even though they had their seatbelts on? Being our children it is our job to do what we can to clothe them in protection the best we can.

But the reality of this world is that we can't protect them from everything. They will grow and eventually move out and be on their own and away from your protective arms. Even as teenagers beginning to drive you have to watch them drive away and hope they stay safe. As a parent the best protection we can clothe them in is prayer. Pray daily for them that God will send His angels to keep them safe. It doesn't matter how old you are, your parents also pray for you as their children.

Well, we are all children of God and He wants to protect us just as any parent does. He can't put us in a bubble just like we can't do that with our children, but He has promised to clothe us so much more than just in protective armor. When we allow Jesus into our lives, we are clothed with…

Salvation -Isaiah 61:10

No matter the bumps and bruises we will face we have a beautiful promise of Salvation. A day when we will leave this world behind for a home in heaven. Such a wonderful reason to rejoice.

Grace -Hebrews 4:16

We all will face times of need, times of struggles, pain, and suffering. We will ourselves fall into sin and temptations. But God covers us with His grace, and we will get through everything.

Love -Psalm 5:11-12

A shield protects anyone when they're behind it. This world and Satan will come at us with so much but God's love for us is so strong, He has promised to be our shield.

Protection -Psalm 118:6

How many wish we had a bodyguard by our side like the rich do? Someone to protect us from the bullies and haters in this world. Well, guess what, we do! God has promised to walk beside us daily, to protect us.

Joy -Psalm 30:11

Sadness will come to all of us during our lives, but the sadness will not always be there. God will take away the sadness when the time is right and clothe you with so much joy. Let Job be one of the best examples of God's goodness over all who follow Him.

Righteousness -Isaiah 32:17 NKJV

Follow Jesus and He has promised peace, quietness, and assurance. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but we have been promised it one day.

Power -Romans 15:13

On our own we are powerless when fighting Satan, but God wants to cover us with His protection, so He has given us the Holy Spirit to face the things that come our way.

Peace -Philippians 4:7

With all the turmoil going on around us we all long for peace. Although real peace won't happen while Satan roams this earth, God has promised to give us the peace we need. We just must trust and believe that God is and always will be in control of our lives when we let Him.

Freedom -John 8:36

Even if we find ourselves in prison for choosing Jesus over this world, God has promised that we will still have freedom when He comes to take us to heaven. Our freedom is not of this world, our freedom is forgiveness, salvation, grace, hope and so much more, through Jesus.

As you pray daily for protection over your family, children and friends remember that as God's children He has clothed you too. This world and its troubles will all pass away, and we will be walking with Jesus in a world made new. Hang in there, you are clothed, you are protected.
