For Highs and Lows, Thank You Jesus

Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is with you; the mighty One will save you. He will rejoice over you. You will rest in his love; he will sing and be joyful about you.”

Do you want to know how to have a victorious, dynamic life? 1 Thessalonians 5:18 has the key. “In everything give thanks for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” Yep, it's that simple.

You might be saying I do give thanks daily, to God. I am thankful each day I wake up, for my job so I can pay my bills, for my health and family. I thank Him for already answered prayers, for the seasons, for home and everything it takes to keep it going. I am thankful, so what could I be missing?

Let's look at this verse more closely. The verse tells us to give thanks for only all the good, right? No, the verse tells us to give thanks in everything, all things, at all times. The hardest thing to do is give thanks in everything. This means even when we are struggling financially, going through health problems, losing a job, a loss of a loved one, car or home troubles. Things in our life where we ask, “How in the world am I supposed to give thanks for this?”

By giving thanks in all circumstances you are telling God that you trust Him to have complete control in your life. “God you are allowing this very purpose because you have a greater plan for my life.”

This is showing faith. By giving thanks you are allowing God's power to be released into your life for Him to do what needs to be done to complete His will in your life. Giving thanks also frees your heart and mind of stress, worry and burdens. “Cast your burdens on the Lord for He cares for you.”

Telling God thank you, in everything, your spirit can be freed because you have done what God has asked. You are acknowledging His greatness, His power, and His love. You are living in faith.

Remember, we give thanks in all things. So, yes by all means keep thanking Jesus for all the good things. Praise Him and glorify Him for taking care of all your needs. But also remember to thank Him through all adversities too. Thank Him for things people would not give thanks for. Thank him for the highs and lows, for the easy paths and the challenging ones. Giving thanks in all things shows faith and trust. Remember, God will not put you through anything that He has not already provided a way out of. 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us Also, each challenge or adversity we go through is God refining you so you will be ready for His return and be ready to live in heaven with Him. 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” NIV.

I know it's difficult when you're in the middle of a problem to want to give thanks to God. Today, choose to stop and thank God for everything and watch what will happen.
