God My Sure Foundation

" He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure." -Isaiah 33:6

The one thing most important when buying a house is knowing it is built on a firm foundation. We need to know that the shifting sands, strong winds even earthquakes won't take the entire house down. When we began to look for a house to buy the foundation was always the first thing my husband looked at. It was surprising how many places we found with unsteady foundations still holding the home up. Some had cracks, others where built on angles and some had already shifted over time. It was time consuming but we finally found the home God had in mind for us and so far the foundation has stood the test of time since the home was built in the 60's. Having a home with a sure foundation is comforting and my family feels safe.

Just like a home needs a sure foundation, we need to build our lives on a sure foundation that will help us stand the test of time and all the rattling storms that may come our way. God is that sure foundation. When we put our trust in Him we know we can be safe. In the book of Matthew Jesus uses a parable of a wise and foolish man. They both built houses, the wise man on the rocks and the foolish man on the sand. When the storms came through the house on the rocks remained standing while the house on the sand fell flat. This parable again shows us that when we build our lives in God He will keep us safe. 1 Timothy 2:19 tells us that the firm foundation of God stands and it's seal reads 'The Lord knows those who are His'... Where are you building your foundation today?

" You are like a building that was built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. Christ Jesus himself is the most important stone in that building..." -Ephesians 2:20
